Based on the popular courses that sell out at the Annual & Summer Meeting, the AAD brings you Simulated Patient Encounters, online activities that guide you through an interactive patient scenario.
After watching a brief video you’ll be given a series of options and asked to respond as you would in a real-life case, then watch and see how the patient reacts and receive instantaneous feedback based on your answer.
Includes three activities:
Breaking Bad News: Melanoma Diagnosis
In this scenario you will deliver bad news (medical diagnosis) to the standardized patient.
The purpose of this activity is to get hands-on practice with delivering bad news and experience challenging conversations in a safe and realistic setting.
Dealing with Difficult Patients: Exercise in Agenda
In this scenario you will face “the difficult patient” – i.e. a patient who presents to the clinic with many demands and requests. The purpose of this activity is to get hands-on practice with agenda setting and experience challenging conversations in a safe and realistic setting.
Medication Management: Psoriasis Counseling
In this scenario you will counsel a standardized patient on medication management. The purpose of this activity is to get hands-on practice with patient counseling and education and experience challenging conversations in a safe and realistic setting.
